Dr Jacob Smith
Eye Health Clinic Cayman

Jacob Smith
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist / Founder
Dr Jake Smith is the founder of Eye Health Clinic and a comprehensive ophthalmologist with extensive surgical experience in cataract and glaucoma procedures. Trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Jake has dedicated his career to delivering specialist ophthalmic care within island communities, establishing Eye Health Clinic Bermuda in 2018 and expanding to Grand Cayman in 2026.
Jake has performed over 5,000 cataract phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation surgeries, alongside thousands of glaucoma laser procedures and surgeries, as well as pterygium, trauma, and emergency eye care.
His vision for Eye Health Clinic Cayman is to provide consultant-led, subspecialist eye care on-island, giving patients access to advanced cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic, retinal, and vitreoretinal treatments that previously required overseas travel.
Jake is an alumnus of Oxford University, Sandhurst Royal Military Academy, Cambridge Medical School, and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He undertook prestigious glaucoma fellowships at King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London, and Geneva University Hospitals in Switzerland. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Jake is fluent in French, and competent in Spanish and German.
