Insurance, SHIF Tariffs & Patient Contributions

Eye Health Clinic Cayman is committed to providing clear and transparent information about the cost of your care.

We accept patients covered by local and international health insurance providers. Where applicable, insurance claims are submitted in accordance with the Standard Health Insurance Fees (SHIF) and the benefits available under your individual insurance policy.

Understanding SHIF & Eye Health Clinic Fees

The SHIF tariff is the standard fee schedule used within the Cayman Islands health insurance system for eligible healthcare services.

Eye Health Clinic Cayman operates its own clinic tariff, which reflects the specialist ophthalmic care, diagnostic technology, surgical facilities, equipment and clinical expertise provided by our service.

In some cases, the Eye Health Clinic Cayman fee may be higher than the amount reimbursed by your insurer under the SHIF tariff or your individual insurance plan.

IMPORTANT: Patients are responsible for paying any difference between the amount covered by their insurance and the Eye Health Clinic Cayman fee.

Before Your Treatment

For planned procedures and surgery, our team will aim to provide you with an estimate of the expected charges and, where required, seek pre-authorisation from your insurance provider.

Your insurance provider will determine the amount covered under your individual policy. Any co-payment, deductible, excess, non-covered service or difference between the insurance reimbursement and the Eye Health Clinic Cayman tariff will be payable by the patient.

We encourage patients to check their individual insurance benefits before treatment. Our team will be happy to assist with insurance queries, pre-authorisation and explaining the expected patient contribution.

Our aim is to ensure that you understand the expected cost of your care before proceeding with treatment.
